Partnership: BCGE once again supports the Prix de l'Artisanat

Following a rigorous selection process, the Prix de l’Artisanat jury, consisting of craftsmen as well as representatives of the OFPC, BCGE, and the State and City of Geneva, designates a craftsman who excels in his or her profession and is recognised by his or her peers.

The aim of the Prix de l'Artisanat is to annually recognise a Geneva craftsman, along with his or her skills, commitment in training the next generation of tradesmen, and transmission of know-how. It is awarded by the Association of Genevan Municipalities (acg.ch).

The 2023 Craftsmanship Prize was awarded to Stéphane Antille, wigmaker, in the presence of Virginie Fauveau, Head of the BCGE Business Division, Gilbert Vonlanthen, President of the ACG, Marie Barbey-Chappuis, Mayor of Geneva and Thierry Apothéloz, State Councillor.

Stéphane Antille, owner of the Perruques Michel shop and winner of the Geneva Craftsmanship Prize 2023, has chosen to follow in the footsteps of his father, Michel Antille, in the pursuit of wigmaking, by specialising in the niche area of medical wigs. He is the only representative of this trade in the canton. This profession, which combines the patience and meticulousness of a tailor with the skill of a hairdresser, also requires great discretion and a deep human sensitivity because of its primary customers. Indeed, Stéphane Antille welcomes them in an actual boudoir.

The jury was very touched by Stéphane Antille’s tact and respectful sensitivity toward everyone who enters his shop. We did not hesitate to award him the prize in order to recognise him and encourage him to pass on his know-how in this niche,” said Christiane Murner, President of the Jury.
